Treatments
It is vital to discuss first when to conduct a healing session and when NOT to conduct a healing session. NEVER conduct a healing session on a client when a bone is broken and has not been set by a doctor. Performing a healing session in this instance will cause the bone to reform in a skewed position and lead to future breaks. NEVER conduct a healing session if medical attention is needed first. For instance, if I person is bleeding profusely from an injury, it is always advised to seek a medical professional first to close the injury/stop the bleeding, and then perform reiki upon the already closed wound. Last but not least, NEVER conduct a healing session if you instincts tell you not to. A client came to me suffering from severe nerve pain. For whatever reason, I just couldn’t bring myself to perform a healing session for her. Later I found out that this client had major blockages in the arties in her neck. Had I performed the healing session, there would have been an increased chance that I could have knocked one of those blockages loose and caused a stroke. In this instance it was important for her to see medical attention prior to healing session.
Now that we’ve discussed when not to perform a healing session, healing sessions can take place at any time, any place, and for practically any ailment. Healing sessions take place with the client fully dressed while sitting, standing, or laying down. The client has the choice as to whether practioner lays their hands on top of the clothes, keeps their hands two inches above the clothes, or distance treatments when the client and (level 2 or master level) practioner are not in the same room. Treatments can be focused or full body and can take anywhere from 10 minutes to 1.5 hours. There is no right or wrong way to perform reiki.
The last thing to remember is that reiki is smarter than the practioner. The universe’s life energy will always go to where it is most needed. If the client is only comfortable with the reiki practioner laying their hand onto of the client’s hand then the practioner will feel the reiki power “cycle” as the energy is sent to various areas of the client’s body where it is most needed.
